Our global topics

Anti-discrimination

We  address diversity as potential, rather than a threat by giving a voice to individuals from all kinds of backgrounds and engaging the community. We are all valuable individuals and by empowering this way of thinking we can contribute to a social sustainability.

It is our aim to build societies based on co-existence and make young people aware of their individuality as well as social responsibility by engaging them with a global perspective: we are all somehow connected and need to care for each other equally. It is therefore necessary to overcome postcolonial structures and to reflect on one's own role within existing power relations.

The YoUbuntu project for example offers training in social skills, leaning on the Sustainable Development Goals number 4 and 8 in order to reduce inequalities and bridge divides. This can be done by implementing intercultural measures and by being an example for bilateral learning.

Sustainability

Sustainability in an ecological context also plays a central role in our partnership. Our goal is to contribute to a sustainable united world enabled by exchange of thoughts and experiences on just living. We always strive to answer the question 'How do I contribute meaningfully to a more sustainable world while creating economic opportunities for myself and my wider community' (SDG 8).

Therefore our projects offer future-oriented approaches, giving young people the opportunity to acquire environmental awareness and reevaluate one's own life and consumer choices, learning about the SDGs 11, 12 and 13. To give an example, we always aim to consume locally, reduce plastic and be water wise in the various projects.

Community Leadership

It is our goal to enable youth to become community leaders of tomorrow, by encouraging them to acquire the necessary skills to be change agents in their home regions. Participating in our projects equips individuals with multiple competences that allow them to address issues and utilise their strengths in an innovative way and ultimately become a source of inspiration and a reason for change in their local contexts.

We encourage to voice opinions and include values into decision-making processes, while being constantly confronted and learning to acknowledge and utilise other perspectives and experiences. Our projects aim at capacity building and networking, as we are convinced that those are essential tools for strong community building.

By spreading innovative economic models and sharing a way of living of global and sustainable communities, past participants become an example for their community and act as multipliers of change.

Social Cohesion

Central to our common projects as well as the concept of Global Learning is the goal of social cohesion. A social global consciousness and "We-feeling". We want to strengthen intercultural exchange and networking on a global and local level.

During our projects, the participants from different backgrounds become a team working together with the concept of Ubuntu ("I am because you are") where everybody is a valuable part of the group. When we stick together and concentrate on each other's strengths, we can achieve so much more.

Indigenous Knowledge

Our partnership evolves a lot around the questions “How do we want to shape our future, what can we learn from each other as well as from the past?”. We believe that there is already a lot of knowledge existing and appreciate its roots and traditions. We want to explore these wisdoms  and aim to integrate them in the process of contributing towards a more just, collaborative and sustainable future. Therefore, preserving indigenous knowledge and giving it the space to be shared is a central topic for us that we want to deepen more in the future.
