German Podcast on Indigenous Wisdom and the SDGs

After dealing six months with the potentials of indigenous wisdom for the SDGs, the ASA team produced a podcast episode talking about their learnings. Based on the interview project about more traditional practices and lifestyles, the podcast aims to discuss the links between sustainable living and indigenous philosophies.
What practices and lifestyles are there? How much more sustainable are they? Could the SDGs be met better if more people adapt more of these practices? How can we use indigenous knowledge for bringing forward the SDGs? Which SDGs in particular? are among the many questions in the podcast.

YoUbuntu - November exchange
The second exchange of YoUbuntu again took place both in Germany and South Africa, in different locations, whilst having online exchanges with the partner group. It was in these settings where young minds could share perspectives from different worlds, or, as YoUbuntu participant, Sandile, described “exchanging and cross-pollinating ideas”.

YoUbuntu - October Exchange

In the week from 4 October to 10 October 2021, 16 young people met in Mannheim and Cape Town at the same time to explore global connections, to experience international and local encounters and to develop strategies for multiplying sustainable ways of life. In the joint online exchange with the nine young people from South Africa, the Ubuntu philosophy was of great importance: the experience of being part of the whole. In an intensive week, the participants dealt with the SDGs - with a special focus on SDG 8 "Decent work and economic growth." In addition to various local discussions, actions and excursions around the topic, the daily digital meeting with the participants from Cape Town was an enriching and connective opportunity to engage in an international exchange. Their own ideas on the topic were also exchanged and further developed, divided into two smaller international groups.
