Community Changemaker 2030

The project aims to equip young people with essential competencies and tools that contribute to transformation towards climate protection and diversity on a local and global level. The participants are coached and trained in the methods of project management, Asset-Based-Community-Development and storytelling. Moreover, the exchange component of the project gives participants more global perspectives and fosters the skills of collaborating in a diverse group of people and learning from each other. By collecting positive stories and realising an own project, the participants have the chance to directly apply these competencies.

This project is supported by the Mindchangers initiative.

“I got more open-minded and realised how much we can learn from each other, from another country, another culture and what an impact it can have to work together and how much energy it provokes."

- Marina

("Ubuntu" = Humanity towards each other)

Section Title

In this project 16 young people from Germany and South Africa  are getting involved in experiencing the philosophy ‘ubuntu’. They get coached in social, sustainable and entrepreneurial aspects. In a binational exchange, they learn about global relationships, the Sustainable Development Goals, new solutions and develop ideas for how to put these solutions into practice. The activities are centred around a reflection on you and your collective surroundings, exploring new ways of sustainable living.

“Participating in this exchange was a genuine experience. I could take away so much new about sustainable development and felt empowered to contribute afterwards.”

Vukuzenzele
("Wake up and do it yourself")

This project is focused on community building and equality to empower participants to have a sense of agency within their own communities. It brings people together to explore issues, voice concerns or simply to be creative and tell stories in a collective learning experience. By using The Participatory Video methodology it is focused on supporting a community driven response to effect the social change they aspire.

“For me this project means playing my part in giving voice to communities while finding mine as well”

- Terra

ASA-Project

The ASA-Programme, initiated by Engagement Global, offers four participants from Germany and South Africa the chance to work together in a binational team, experiencing and strengthening Global Learning. The team is supporting Amava Oluntu and Starkmacher in their common global vision for more social and ecological sustainability. In doing so they are exploring questions like

  • Why is Global Learning important?

  • How can we think beyond our borders and promote the SDGs?

  • What are perspectives for a more sustainable, just and equal future and how can everybody contribute?

Section Title

“The project strengthened my awareness on how important it is to engage with different perspectives and learn to think global - for a sustainable, peaceful together and for our planet.”

- Sophie
